Suffrago: Your Privacy First
Protecting your privacy by default
You may have noticed that we don't have a cookie banner on our website. We didn't forget, we don't need one. Too often modern websites and services are bloated with non-essential services and functions, Suffrago only does what we need to do to effectively run the webiste.
Other companies will probably argue, any you may be thinking, "but so and so service is critical to my operations"; great that's why they have a cookie banner. We only use essential cookies, which do not need a cookie banner to be displayed, we must however inform you about what we are storing on your device.
You can see the full privacy policy below, but we want to walk you through how Suffrago does several key operations based upon your interactions on our site. Fundamentally though, we operate based upon the fact that we focus on the collective not the individual when reporting any information, we care about the individual when it relates to your experience on the platform.
Authentication
Suffrago uses passwordless sign in through a service called NextAuth.js, and to track whether you have signed in we require a cookie to be placed on your device. Without this, we can't provide the service we offer and is therefore essential. There are many pages you can access without this cookie; however to protect our users, and remain legally compliant, there are features that require us to know who you are.
Analytics
The analytics provider we utilise is associated with our hosting provider Vercel. Vercel Analytics are anonymised and non-cookie based; whilst this causes issues for us being able to track users across multiple days, it means that we are not being invasive whilst we track key information that enables us to deliver the best possible product and service to you.
Another way in which we gather analytics is based upon your activity whilst Suffrago, more information can be seen here; but essentially everytime you perform an action we may store your unique user ID against it to be able to show you the information again, or prevent you from repeating the action. We can use these interactions to gain an understanding of how Suffrago is being used, but again we care about the actions of the collective rather than that of the individual.
Importantly none of these analytics solutions enable you to be tracked across other websites.
