Should the sale of fireworks to the general public be banned?

Fireworks can currently be purchased by the public, subject to restrictions on their sale and use. A ban on public sales would not prevent professionally organised fireworks displays.

Supporters argue a ban could reduce injuries, antisocial behaviour and distress to people and animals, while opponents favour responsible private use and stronger enforcement of existing rules.
