UK spending on subscriptions has grown rapidly, with recent figures suggesting around £1.6 billion is spent annually on unwanted subscriptions.

The government has announced new consumer protection rules, due to take effect in January 2027, requiring clearer information, renewal reminders and easier cancellation.

Subscriptions can continue renewing automatically, sometimes leaving customers paying for services they have forgotten about or no longer want.
