The UK government is exploring plans to contribute military forces to a multinational peacekeeping mission in Ukraine, contingent on a formal ceasefire with Russia.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Defence Secretary John Healey have indicated the UK would be “ready to play a leading role” yet emphasise it would focus on logistics, air policing and training rather than frontline combat.
The proposed force, led by the UK and France, would include contributions from multiple countries and cost over £100 million.
Russia has warned that any Western troop deployment would be “unacceptable,” raising the geopolitical stakes of such a commitment.
Do you think the UK should deploy troops in Ukraine following a ceasefire with Russia?
