Glasgow’s busiest bus station could be getting demolished for a huge revamp.
Strathclyde Partnership for Transport have said a more modern bus station would be more functional by accommodating to increased size of buses and coaches, more welcoming with greenery and amenities, and better connected to nearby transport hubs like Queen Street Station and Buchanan Street Subway.
The image below displays the early ideas of the masterplan.
The whole city block would be demolished, but it would be done in a “careful and gradual way”.
It is only after public consultation, will SPT consider the timings for the development.
SPT added that for any work that progresses, it is “committed to the continued effective operation” of the station.
