Should VAT on pubs and restaurants be cut?

The Liberal Democrats are urging the government to reduce VAT from 20% to 15% for pubs, restaurants, and entertainment venues in the upcoming Budget.

They argue this would help businesses facing a "cost of doing business crisis" and make dining out more affordable for consumers.

The plan is expected to be partly passed on to customers and funded by a proposed windfall tax on big banks.

With more than half of people saying eating out is now unaffordable, the Lib Dems say this temporary VAT cut could support struggling hospitality firms and help revive local economies.

Do you think the government should enact this proposal?
